About

I've been responsible for the sale and what happens next

For more than a decade, I ran a music coaching business that served 2,500+ students. I found the clients, taught them, supported them when they struggled, and managed a small team. I know how much work goes into earning a customer's trust.

I've also worked in customer success, account management and sales, managing up to roughly 150 accounts at a time. That meant staying on top of check-ins, following up when someone went quiet, and keeping clear notes so the next conversation picked up where we left off.

When a client says something isn't working, I want to understand why. What have they tried? Where did they get stuck? What were they expecting? Once we understand that, we can agree on what to do next.

My experience is especially useful in coaching, education and services, where clients need to put what they've bought into practice. I enjoy helping people get through that difficult stretch between starting something and seeing results.

Case studies & portfolio projects

A few examples from my work

Three examples of helping clients move forward, followed by two sample plans showing how I'd organise onboarding and spot clients who need support.

Real experience

Turning client doubt into a clear path forward

Situation
Some coaching clients were improving but couldn't see it themselves. They started doubting their progress and lost motivation.
Challenge
They needed a clearer picture of what progress looked like and what they were working towards.
Approach
I broke their six-month goal into weekly steps, with specific actions they could practise and use to track their progress.
Outcome
Clients regained confidence and got back into their practice. I used this approach again when other students had similar doubts.
Skills: Success planning · Retention · Risk identification · Client communication
Real experience

Diagnosing the real problem behind "this isn't working"

Situation
A client concluded the program wasn't the right fit and was ready to walk.
Challenge
I needed to understand whether the program was a poor fit or whether something specific had gone wrong along the way.
Approach
I talked through what the client had tried. We found they'd missed some foundational steps and were judging progress against the wrong measures, so we put those steps back in order.
Outcome
The client understood where they'd got stuck, stayed in the program, and started working on the steps we'd agreed.
Skills: Escalation management · Churn prevention · Diagnostic problem-solving · Expectation management
Real experience

From complete beginner to stage performer

Situation
Clients arrived as complete non-singers with no experience, high self-doubt and uncertainty about whether they could ever perform.
Challenge
Performing felt a long way off. Students needed enough encouragement and structure to keep practising when their confidence dipped.
Approach
I started with something they could achieve early, then built up the difficulty as their confidence grew. Weekly and mid-week check-ins helped them keep practising, and I committed to replying within 24–48 hours.
Outcome
Complete beginners went on to perform on stage, and several performed semi-professionally. Across the business, students stayed for more than six months on average.
Skills: Onboarding · Adoption · Long-term engagement · Outcome ownership

How I'd help a new client get started

This sample plan adapts what worked in my coaching business to a B2B customer success role. I'd adjust the timing and check-ins to suit the client and the service.

Kickoff & ownershipDays 1–3
Ask what the client wants to achieve, agree who is responsible for each step, and set check-in times and response expectations.
Fast first winWeek 1
Choose one useful, achievable task so the client can see progress in their first week.
Regular check-insWeeks 2–6
Check in weekly, with extra support when needed. Ask what they've tried, what's working and where they need help.
Success planningOngoing
Break the bigger goal into weekly steps and review progress together, adjusting the plan when needed.
Risk, renewal & expansionOngoing
Reach out when participation drops. Discuss renewals and additional services when the client's results and needs make those conversations useful.
Demonstrates: Onboarding design · Adoption management · Success planning · Churn prevention · Renewal planning
